Greater Forsyth Swim League (GFSL) Swim Team Representatives

In order for the Greater Forsyth Swim League (GFSL) to be successful, we must have enthusiastic and committed representatives from each team. These representatives are the voice of the team parents, swimmers, and coaches of our swim teams. Each team may have 2 representatives to sit on the Board of Directors. Below is a list of the main responsibilities of a GFSL team rep; however, this list is not exhaustive.

  • Reps must know the GFSL rules and ensure that the rules are followed at each of the dual meets.
  • At least one Rep from each pool must attend the 4 GFSL league meetings each year - September, January, March, and June
  • Reps must communicate all GFSL rules and expectations to their team coaches.
  • Reps are the liaison between their swim team and their own pool’s membership board. Each pool defines membership differently - the representatives must ensure that all swimmers on their team are members of their pool, thus eligible to swim in our swim league.
  • Reps are the disseminators of information to the participants and parents on their swim team about meets and team expectations and also information from the league board concerning rules and league finals expectations, whether through email or text message.
  • Reps should have a system for parents to communicate swimmer availability for each meet.
  • Reps work with others on their team to ensure they have the volunteers necessary to run a successful swim meet.
  • Home team rep should always send a welcome email to the visiting team rep with any details/rules that the other team needs to know (parking, arrival time, tent policy, body marking, etc.)
  • Maintain Swim Meet Notebook:
    • Team Roster
    • Coaches and League Rep Roster
    • Stroke Judge Schedule
    • Schedule
    • League Rep and Coaches Phone Numbers
    • GFSL Rules
