Mock Meet/Time Trials Tonight!

Good Morning Crazy Ducks,

Below is information for our Mock Meet/Time Trials this afternoon! This is a fun event to re-acclimate our swimmers, coaches and volunteers. We are watching the weather closely, but for now it looks like we should have a good window to get most, if not all, of the swimming in!

In the event of inclement weather, lifeguards may instruct parents and swimmers to clear the pool deck. All updates will be communicated through the SwimTopia App. Download the app now!

IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDERS

  • Both ends of the pools are for officials and coaches only. Parents and swimmers not participating in relays are not allowed in the roped off section for any reason. Officials and coaches in these sections have authority to request swimmers and parents to step out of the area.
  • Stay hydrated! Bring a water bottle for your swimmer. Water will also be available for swimmers and spectators by the bathrooms/snack bar area. The hospitality cooler is for meet volunteers only.
  • The playground is off limits during the meet. Swimmers need to rest between events and cheer on their teammates, no horseplay on the grassy hill. Thank you parents for your help setting and enforcing these expectations!
  • Absolutely no swimming is allowed in the shallow end of the pool, shallow end ramp or wading pool during the meet! The pool is closed for general swimming and the lifeguards will be focused on the swimmers in the event lanes.

5 More Timers Needed!!

We are still in need of 5 timers.  If you have not signed up to volunteer, please do so via the SwimTopia app as soon as possible.  Mock Meet Sign Up via SwimTopia

There are still a few spots left in the Siblings Kids Club for non-swimming siblings ages 3-11 (bathroom independent).  Register via the FCC app.

BEFORE ARRIVING

  • The heat sheet and swimmer event list for tonight will be shared this afternoon. Please remind and encourage our swimmers they are only swimming against the clock and to have great sportsmanship! Only 6 and under will swim relays.
  • We are challenging our swimmers to events they may not have completed in the past legally to appropriately build our team for competition. Encourage your swimmers to have fun and embrace the challenge!
  • All swimmers need to have their first and last name and their swim team age group, written on their back with a permanent marker. Be sure to do this after sunscreen has been applied and dried. Swimmers also need to have each event number, heat, and lane written on their arm with a permanent marker after sunscreen has been applied and dried.
  • Please read through the Swim Meet 101 information. At any time if you feel lost or confused, ASK FOR HELP from Raul, Kate or Sara. Be patient with us as well, we are also shaking off the dust.
  • Check the list of Things to Bring. Don’t forget a CAP and GOGGLES! Team caps have not been handed out yet this season, so if you do not have a cap then hair should be tied back securely. Swimmers should wear appropriate, competitive swim attire - girls should be in a one piece and boys in competitive swim briefs or jammers.  Swim shirts and rash guards are not recommended.

CHECK-IN AND SET-UP

  • Arrive between 4:30-5:00pm, warm-ups at 5:00-5:25pm, meet starts at 5:30pm.
  • Volunteers check in with Sara Loebner. Swimmers will check in with coaches.
  • After you check in your swimmer with the coaches, find a deck spot preferably with their age group. Identify your swimmer’s Ducking Helper (10 and under) and introduce them, if needed.
  • Remind your older swimmer (11 and up) to listen to the starter and watch the event cards. Swimmers should be on deck and prepared to line up in their lane when their event is five events away. Duckling Helpers will guide the younger swimmers but it is not their job to search for a swimmer that is not ready to go.

DURING THE MEET

  • The wading pool, shallow end, and shallow end ramp are all OFF LIMITS during the swim meet.  The playground is off limits as well.  This includes everyone...swimmers, siblings, friends, etc.
  • We will have rows of lane chairs set up on top of the four-square court. Our Deck Manager utilizes these to get your 10 and under swimmers lined up for their events.
  • Our timers move, so all events start in the DEEP end (under the diving boards).
  • The snack bar will NOT be open during the meet. A buffet will be available, free of charge for swimmers and member sign for adults. Please be mindful of your swimmer's next event if you are feeding them a snack or dinner.
  • Swimmers are strongly discouraged from bringing electronic devices to use during the meet.
  • Swimmers need to stay with their age groups at all times.
  • Pick up your family’s trash and towels. Clean up after your family so that the lifeguards, coaches, and other parents don’t have to.

See you all tonight!  Go Ducks!
