Crazy Ducks Weekly Update 6/19
Happy Friday, Crazy Ducks! Congrats to all of our swimmers on a big WIN against Clemmons West this past Tuesday night! Over 40 Crazy Ducks are participating in the City Meet today. We wish them a fun day, with fast swims! Let's go ahead look ahead to next week, which marks the halfway point of our season and the Crazy Ducks hit the road.
- FCC travels to New Sherwood for our first away meet next Tuesday, June 23; deadline to declare your swimmer is Sunday, June 21.
- GFSL Finals are on Sunday, July 12th at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Swimmer and volunteer sign ups are open!
Away Meet June 23rd vs New Sherwood
The Crazy Ducks will visit the New Sherwood Stingrays on Tuesday, June 23rd at 5:30pm. This is our first away meet of the season. Remember to bring towels and chairs to away meets. Over half the team, 73 swimmers, as undeclared as of today. Let us know if your swimmer is attending or not attending. The deadline to declare your swimmer is Sunday, June 21st by 5pm.
We have a number of volunteer positions to fill for Tuesday's meet. Jobs still open include both girls and boys helpers for the 7-8 and 9-10 age groups, as well as two 2nd shift timers.

GFSL Finals on July 12
The Greater Forsyth Swim League Finals will be held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center (the GAC) on Sunday, July 12th. Finals consist of two sessions: Session 1 (10 and under) and Session 2 A/B (11 and up; 2A-Girls and 2B-Boys). During the morning session, all events will take place in the same pool. In the afternoon, the sessions are split into two pools, one for girls and one pool for boys. The afternoon girls and boys events run concurrently. When you sign up in Swimtopia, you do need to select the specific session for your swimmer based on their age and gender. Please note that the session dates in Swimtopia are incorrect and reflect the 2025 finals date. The event date is correct for July 12, 2026.
Finals is different than City Meet and GFSL Meets we have during the season against other pools. The Finals Meet is meant to be an even competition with participation limits. Each team is only allowed 3 swimmers per event. As a result, there are times when swimmers may only swim 1 or 2 events. Finals is a great event and we’d like each age group to have a relay team represented.
Want to be closer to the action? Volunteer! Parents are not allowed on the deck unless they are volunteering. Each team is asked to provide at least 2 Stroke and Turn Officials and a Timer for each session/pool (3 timers total-1 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon).
- Stroke and Turn Officials must have at least 2 years of certification with the GFSL to officiate at the Finals. Once you have signed up for Stroke and Turn at Finals, I will reach out to get your shirt size and your pool preference (girls or boys) if officiating in the afternoon.
- Timers can split a session, so if you want to swap out with another parent, let me (Kate) know and I will be sure we get you both signed up accordingly. For the afternoon session, we will need a timer for the girls pool and boys pool. Once you sign up for afternoon timing, I will reach out to get your pool preference.
- Hospitality is a morning volunteer position only. FCC shares this responsibility with several other teams. Volunteers in this position will make rounds to deliver water and snacks to meet officials and timers on the deck.
- Team parents will be on the deck with our swimmers and ensure they arrive on time to the Clerk of Course to be lined up for their event. Please note that we have not yet confirmed how many 'team parent' lanyards we will receive. We have added 3 team parents spots for each session as this is what we have received in the past, however we may need to adjust if this is reduced by the GAC and GFSL.
